Drift – Stags

I don’t know why but guitar bands just haven’t been funky since the 90’s. I’m going to put the majority of the blame on the Strokes and their annoyingly-cool leather jackets but whatever the cause we’ve more or less been in a groove-less guitar universe since then. Drift seem intent on changing that with their new single ‘Stags’.

In ‘Stags’ we’re treated to some acrobatic palm-muted melodies dancing over the groovy rhythm section in something that sounds like Foals doing a Level 42 cover; this actually makes alot more sence that you’d expect. With some B-town reverb thrown into the mix ‘Drift’  inject a welcome bit of funk into the current musical landscape that might just get some of the shoegazers dancing again.

You shaking dat ass yet? Comment!
