Yungest – Rare Like Vinyl

I honestly don’t know what to make of this track. It might be the best thing I’ve ever heard or it might be another throwaway mp3-based joke that will remain gathering dust on someones Soundcloud until the end of time. I think it falls somewhere in between but either way i find myself strangely addicted to this self proclaimed ‘slutty-rap’ track by Yungest.

This is total internet music as only on the internet can true eccentrics like this thrive; in a place where artists as odd-ball as Lil B and Riff Raff can morph from music to Meme and give birth to god-like levels of cult fandom, by making absolutely no sense, this track makes complete sense. A Lebanese girl whispering child-talk rhymes about meeting a guy over a pseudo-dilla beat is so unimaginably internet that I’m already rooting for her. And internet credentials aside this isn’t a bad song. Admittedly there’s no complex wordplay but there is heap of character and mood and her complete lack of flow just makes this song all the more endearingly juvenile. For one reason or another half of Black Hippy is already following her on Twitter so maybe it is worth keeping an eye on Yungest.

I think she might be based in Denmark? Comment!
