Apologies for my extended absence, I accidentally went on holiday. I’m back now and hve been blessed with a rare treat. Originally hailing from (a tiny town no one’s ever heard of near the slightly cooler town of) Bournemouth, it’s at a disappointingly infrequent rate I actually get to write about bands from my (kind-of) hometown. Today though The Plastic Dots have blessed us with a couple of new tracks, the first of which, Above and Below, wonderfully walks the line between a laid-back haze and groovy 90s optimism. Sleeping the Day, the second track, is a more intimate affair, a ballad that can’t help but tip it’s hat to Alex Turner’s personal brand of swaggering sorrow. So yeah thanks guys from preventing me from writing about Brighton for once.
